14-15 October 2004 A programme Rabindranath in Perspective was held as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Sahitya Akademi. Dr. Ram Kumar Mukhopadhyaya welcomed the audience and Sri Alokeranjan Dasgupta inaugurated programme. Debarati Mitra delivered the speech. Tagore's songs were rendered by Asis Bhattacharya, Rajasree Bhattacharya and Swastika Mukhopadhyay. 17-19 October 2004 A three-day programme Kavyabharati– A Golden Jubilee Festival of Indian Poetry was held. Professor K. Satchidanandan welcomed the guests and Rafiq Zakaria inaugurated the Festival While Professor Gopi Chand Narang presided. Inaugural readings were done by Sri Nilmani Phookan, Sri Sunil Gangopadhyay, Smt Padma Sachdev, Sri Keki N. Daruwalla, Sri K. Ayyappa Paniker, Sri Vinda Karandikar, Sri Gulzar and Sri Javed Akhtar. There were eight reading sessions in which a number of poets including Sri Narayan Surve, Sri Balachandran Chulikkad, Sri Namdeo Dhasal, Sri Eunice De Souza, Sri A.M.K. Shahryar, Sri Shafi Shauq, Sri Chandrasekhar Kambar, Smt Anuradha Patil, Sri Suresh Dalal, Sri Surjit Patar, Sri Udaya Narayan Singh, Sri Kedarnath Singh, Sri Kailash Vajpeyi, Sri Chandraprakash Deval, Sri Krishin Rahi and many others participated.
